BH Fitness is a brand that we have come to know really well. They are renowned for their innovation and for producing high quality cross trainers at affordable prices. A BH Fitness elliptical cross trainer is backed by the manufacturer with a comprehensive warranty and all cross trainers are manufacturered to the highest quality. You can be assured that a BH Fitness cross trainer will be a sound investment in pursuit of your fitness goals.
With the range of BH Fitness cross trainers that we offer take a look at the specification. Typically this will cover the following elements:
Express Delivery Available
We offer a number of cross trainers on “Express Delivery” which means that it will be delivered within 3 working days. You can upgrade to Next Day delivery for a small fee.
Console
This describes the features and look of the console. Look out for dot matrix displays which tend give better overall feedback than LED displays. All good cross trainer will show speed, time and program settings.
Dimensions (HxWxL)
These are the dimensions of the cross trainer when its in it’s usable position. When deciding whether the cross trainer will fit in your home, add a few centimetres to the dimensions of the trainer and you’ll feel far more comfortable when using it.
Feedback
This describes the information that is displayed on the console of the cross trainer when it’s in use.
Flywheel Weight
The flywheel on a cross trainer is attached to the footplates and revolves at the same speed as the elliptical movement. Generally speaking a heavier flywheel will give a smoother elliptical action.
Folded Dimensions (HxWxL)
Some cross trainers fold and this specifies the dimension when in the folded position.
Heart Rate Control
Most cross trainers offer heart rate control programs which enable you to train to your own heart rate. You’ll need a compatible chest strap that will communicate with the cross trainer but these are relatively inexpensive and some cross trainer are supplied with these free of charge. Manual cross trainers do not offer heart rate control (since they don’t have programs).
Machine Weight
This is the weight of the cross trainer. Make sure that you carefully consider where you will be storing and using the trainer in your home.
Maxiumum User Weight
Each cross trainer is designed to take a maximum weight of user so check the scales carefully (and honestly!!) before picking which cross trainer is most suited to you.
Number of Programs
The more programs that a cross trainer has the more variety and options you have when using the machine. You’ll find that you pick your favourite 2 or 3 programs and stick to those so don’t get too hung up on whether your cross trainer has 10 or 12 programs – in our experience you won’t use them!!
Programs
Look for fat burn, hillclimbs, heart rate control programs (see the description for heart rate control above), user programs and numerous others.
Resistance Levels
All cross trainers will have a range of resistance levels. Put simply, the resistance level controls how easy or hard it is to complete a full elliptical rotation. Cross trainers that have programs will automatically change the resistance level in line with the program that you’ve selected. With a manual cross trainer you will have to change the resistance yourself, usually via knob near the console.
Stride Length
The stride length of a cross trainer is one of the most important factors to consider. You need to match the length of the stride of the trainer to your natural stride length. If the stride length of the cross trainer is too small you won’t be getting the full benefit of the machine, and equally if the stride length is too long it will be uncomfortable. If you’re not sure about which stride length to pick then please call us for advice.
Warranty
Look for the length of the warranty on the frame and the motor, the number of years that parts and labour are covered and whether the warranty is “return to base”. Most of the better warranties cover in home fixes where an engineer will be sent to your home to repair your cross trainer
Other Information
Look out for: pivoting foot plates which means that more of your foot stays in contact with the footplate during the elliptical rotation; self generating cross trainers which do not need to be connected to mains power; adjustable stride lengths which means that you can change the length of the stride to suit your own natural stride pattern.
